Jordan Christensen- WTA TAGS Consultant
The tradition in my family is that you were not allowed to attend opening day of the deer hunt until you were six years old. Although I had rode along other days with my father in years prior, the anticipation of going on the opener was something I will never forget. Up for an early breakfast prepared by my mother, and out the door in my hand me down oversized blaze orange sweater. As the dark faded, and the silence was shattered all around us, I couldn’t help that feeling of a rite of passage. Although we were unsuccessful that morning the seed was planted, and as I froze my toes off in the winter snow of Utah I was hooked and have never looked back.
After completing high school I followed in my grandfather’s footsteps and spent six years with the Utah Army National Guard as an artillery man. This experience took me to all corners of the country, as well as a year of combat in the Anbar Province of Iraq. After returning home I was able to pursue my passion for taxidermy where I owned and operated a full time studio for 8 years in Southern New Mexico. While in New Mexico I got involved in guiding big game hunts and found myself in the field 100 plus days a year for many years. Being able to help hunters through WTA TAGS understand where to get the most value for their time and money has been a natural progression from guiding.
The hunting industry has taken me too many areas of the world. I have hunted and guided all across the Southwest of the United States, and have been fortunate to walk up to multiple record book animals with hunters from all over the world. I spent 4 years on the Board of Directors for the El Paso, Texas Chapter of Safari Club International. I was surrounded by some of the most accomplished hunters in the country including a mentor of mine that has his world hunting ring. The education about hunting all around the world I recieved from him as well as many others on the board has been priceless as I have progressed in my carrerr. My passion has and continues to be hunting something new, completing the Super Ten is my current goal. I have been building points for more than half my life for many of the most difficult tags in the country, and am looking forward to this plan coming to fruition sooner than later. In 2014 I was able to marry the love of my life and together we raise our two children a son, Parker, and a daughter, Animas. Having the opportunity to raise my children surrounded by the industry is a dream come true, and I look forward to the adventures we will share together as they come of age.
