Caleb Sutton – Worldwide Hunting and Fishing Consultant/TAGS Consultant
Hunting and fishing………to some it means their favorite hobby or pastime, to some it is their release from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, to others it represents tradition passed on from generation to generation, others may enjoy it on strictly a social basis, some may not like it at all. For me it is my favorite hobby, it is my release, and it is so much more, it is my job, my career, my way of life, my passion, and everything that consumes me. Some of my most precious memories and relationships I can attribute to hunting and fishing, I even credit it for meeting my wife, if I wouldn’t have moved to Nebraska to take a job in the hunting industry I would have never met her. I have had this fire burning in me a long time, I have been fortunate enough to experience a lot and it still never gets old, every time I get out in the woods or on the water I am grateful, I am excited, and I am learning, it is a feeling that I hope never goes away because as many of you know and can relate to it is very special.
Growing up for me everything revolved around the outdoors and sports, if I wasn’t in the woods or on the water chances are I was on a baseball or football field. I was very fortunate to have the opportunity to play Division 1 football or baseball out high school and ended up signing with Coastal Carolina University to play baseball. I quickly found out that college athletics were a full time job where hunting and fishing were hardly an option due to time constraints, although I couldn’t hunt and fish as much as I wanted, I still went every chance I could and it was constantly on my mind, after a couple of a years I needed more, I had to make a decision, baseball was suffering because of hunting and fishing, and hunting and fishing was suffering because of baseball. My heart was pulling me very strongly towards the outdoors and I hung up the spikes to pursue hunting and fishing full time while not at school, needless to say it was the best, hardest decision I have ever made. To this day I credit my competitive drive, and relentlessness to succeed that I harbored from athletics as a driving force in not only my accomplishments as a hunter but also in my career. After graduating college I landed my first job as a Biologist, at the same time I was spending every free minute, second, and nanosecond traveling around the country spending every dollar I had hunting and fishing, these were truly some of my greatest memories afield, and I learned a ton during that time in my life. For me I still knew there was more out there for me and was feeling led to pursue a job in this industry, soon after that I met Nathan Mrnak and fortunately for me he gave me a chance, the rest is history I guess you could say.
I can’t speak enough on what the hunting industry has done for me, it has taken me to several different countries and multiple continents, things I would have never imagined. I have been fortunate to harvest many beautiful trophies of my own while living vicariously through my clients as I watch them reach goals, and conquer their dreams, it’s an unbelievable feeling. This industry has also put me alongside the absolute best team in the industry and I consider it a great honor to be mentioned in the same breath as they are, it is something I never take for granted and that I am very proud of. My goals are simple in regards to both my personal exploits and my professional, #1. I want to be the absolute best hunter I can be, I hope to never stop learning and never become complacent. #2 I want to be the absolute best consultant possible and always do everything I can for my clients. #3 I want to be as diverse as possible, there is always another species to master or a new technique or a new area to explore. #4 I never want this to get old, I hope this industry and way of life makes me as excited 20 years from now as it does today and I truly believe it will, being excited and hungry keeps you on top of your game. As always I look forward to my next adventure and helping you on your next one as well!
