Mozambique Cape Buffalo and Plains Game Safari – Free Range

Outfitter #097
from
$17,500
Location:
Method:
Rifle
Dates:

June – November

This hunt takes place within the 12 million acre Niassa Game Reserve in northern Mozambique. Bordering Tanzania to the south, Niassa offers some of the most remote and wildest hunting in all of Africa. It is home to 4 of the Big 5 along with an incredible population of buffalo, lion, leopard, and an abundance of plains game including endemic species like the Roosevelt sable, Bohms zebra, Johnston’s impala, Niassa wildebeest, Lichtenstein hartebeest, and Livingstone eland. Other species include kudu, waterbuck, gray and red duiker, suni, crocodile, hippo, Chobe bushbuck, bushpig, Sharpe’s grysbuck, hyena, warthog and common reedbuck.

No hunting is done in the herds for buffalo or sable, only solitary bulls or groups of bulls and sable must show secondary horn growth. This management practice has been in place for over a decade and the results speak for themselves.

This outfitter has two side by side hunting blocks within the reserve that total over 1.5 million acres of pristine Miombo woodlands. For 93-miles the perennial Lugenda River is the main lifeline of the region and forms their western border. The main safari camp is beautifully located high on the rivers’ bank with the most amazing views towards the west. Main camp offers five luxurious air-conditioned chalets with private bath along with a main lodge with bar, lounge and dining area under thatch, an indoor infinity pool, broadband internet and satellite TV upon request. Exceptional hunting and rare trophies in a traditional fashion with knowledgeable PH’s and skilled trackers.

The northern camp is situated 40 miles north still in the northeast part of the Reserve boasting over 30 miles of Lugenda River frontage and the same again along the Rovuma River, the border with Tanzania. The dining/lounge area and 3 lovely en-suite tents have a spectacular view up the Lugenda River. Game is seen all day on the scenic banks and along the water’s edge. The mighty perennial Lugenda originates over 340 miles away close to the Malawi border. The camp is situated in the dense shade of giant Baobabs, large leaf chestnuts and fig trees. The sounds of cheerful birds, monkeys and the choir of frogs and nocturnal animals at night compliment the peace and comfort of this camp.

If you’re looking for an authentic, traditional African safari, look no further than the Niassa Game Reserve.
