Brazil’s World-Class Peacock Bass Fishing

Conventional Fishing, Fly Fishing
Dates:

July – March

Deep in the heart of the Brazilian Amazon you’ll fish remote rivers, tributaries and hidden lagoons legendary for the number and size of trophy peacock bass they produce. Peacock bass are some of the most ferocious and hard-fighting freshwater game fish found anywhere. Lots of times, these fish will literally jump out of the water to attack your lure or fly. What you won’t find are many pesky bugs. The pristine rivers have naturally-high tannin levels (from extensive leaf decay) which discourage the development of biting insects. This outfitter has been operating in the Amazon since 1992 and has built a reputation for offering a unique and unforgettable fishing experience. Several strategically located floating camps have been scattered along the Rio Negro’s many tributaries. This means you will be placed at the best river at the right time of year with no long boat rides. These mobile camps are located in areas where other lodges and outfitters simply cannot access. At times, you’ll be fishing within sight of your cabin. Each camp accommodates a maximum of eight anglers in double occupancy, air-conditioned cabins with private bath plus a full staff of guides, a cook, manager, and mechanic. The guest cabins are built on pontoons and are 15’x12′ in size with two twin beds. There is also a larger dining cabin with great food and lots of it, plus ice cold beer and soft drinks. The pontoons only draw 4″ of water and are easily moved (by a larger boat) during your trip, which means you’ll be fishing in a different area over the course of a week, casting to unpressured fish. While you’re out fishing with an experienced, local guide in 21′ aluminum bass boats, the staff will be moving camp to a new location along the river and its Caribbean-like beaches. 20+ fish a day, ranging in size from 5-15 pounds, are common, with some fish pushing the magical 20 lb. mark! Rods and reels are provided in each boat. Due to its location close to the equator, Brazil offers very stable weather conditions and provides a wonderful fishing trip away from the cold North American winters. The Brazilian Amazon is truly a world-class fishery and will guarantee you an unforgettable fishing adventure.

Starting June 17, 2019 Americans and Canadians traveling to Brazil will no longer need a Visa to enter the country.
