mid May – September
This location in Mexico’s northern Yucatan has been under the radar for the past few years. After careful observation, we are happy to offer this little piece of paradise to Cabela’s clients. Located on a sleepy little island north of Cancun, this new lodge caters to the tarpon junkie. Large schools of tarpon will appear breaking the ocean’s surface as they chase baitfish in the shallow waters. Spring and summer is the best time to catch the migration for these large silver kings (some over 100 pounds) while excellent fishing for juvenile tarpon in the 10-25 pound range is available year round. This can provide some excellent light tackle fishing. While limited, other species available include barracuda, cobia, snook, and some permit. Accommodations consist of a five bedroom, air-conditioned beach front villa, that is a stone’s through from the Atlantic. The lodge caters to small groups, assuring a personalized fishing experience. Non-fisherman will enjoy relaxing on the beach, horseback riding, or a tour of the Mayan Ruins. Giant whale sharks begin their annual migration in the summer and can provide some amazing snorkeling. Be one of the few to fish this little piece of paradise.
