Our outfitter has one of the top mountain nyala areas in the Bale Mountains and are proud of their 100% success rate on mountain nyala and Menelik’s bushbuck. Typically clients tag their trophy nyala bulls during the first week of the hunt. Thanks to great management there are plenty mountain nyala in this area and is probably the easiest area in Ethiopia to get a mountain nyala. Trophy nyala bulls average 35 inches with bulls taken every year over 38 inches. Their plains game area in the Danakil has plenty of game and includes lessor kudu, Sommering’s gazelle, Salt Dik-Dik, Abyssinian bushbuck, Hmadiras baboon and Beisa Oryx. Success on these species is never a problem. The best time to hunt Ethiopia is October through to June .Ethiopia’s climate is generally very hot in the Danakil. In the Bale mountains the weather is generally cool, wet and often rains with winters being cool to mild. Clients are accommodated in serviced tented fly camps that provide all meals and a laundry service.

Physical Requirement Level

Level 3 - These hunts are a true wilderness experience and are usually conducted on horseback, while hunting species such as elk, moose, bear; also, some mountain lion and African Cape buffalo. Difficult to extreme hiking and backpacking can be involved.
