Unit 16 and 19. 2 bears per hunter in available in unit 16! This hunt is for one brown/grizzly bear. Black bear may be available if they are out of the dens. Bears average over 8’6” with 90% success rate. Their largest bear to date is 9’7” 27 6/16” skull! Most of the bears they take in April are at the den or on moose kills. The area they hunt has high bear moose predation. Large males are very predatory in the spring and kill moose often. When they find a bear on a moose kill it is almost a guarantee that they will get the shot. They use airplanes to scout, get to the camp hunting is by snowmobiles or snowshoes. You stay in one of their cozy wilderness cabins most nights. Tent camping may be required for a couple nights depending on hunting conditions. They use comfortable Arctic Oven Tents with heat. This outfitter has guided wilderness trips using – bush planes, horses, whitewater rafts, skis, snowmobiles, backpacking, and sled dogs. They have also guided hunts for all Alaska species from Cold Bay to Yakutat, to the Chandalar country in the Brooks Range, down to whitetails in Virginia, and Desert Sheep in Arizona. Level 3 - These hunts are a true wilderness experience and are usually conducted on horseback, while hunting species such as elk, moose, bear; also, some mountain lion and African Cape buffalo. Difficult to extreme hiking and backpacking can be involved.
