December – March
The Futaleufu River is a trout fisherman’s paradise. Across from the Esquel region of Argentina and south of the Chilean lake district, this small lodge caters to angler’s wanting to experience the best of Chile. This freestone river flows through a heavily forested valley amid beautiful scenery and is home to a healthy population of brown and rainbow trout that will eagerly take a well-placed fly. There are also smaller rivers and lakes that are easily accessed by vehicle. Rainbow and brown trout are fed by abundant hatches of mayflies, caddis, and stoneflies. Fish in the 14-16″ range are very plentiful with bigger trout caught every day. There’s even an occasional sea-run fish that is sure to put a bend in your fly rod. You’ll float and wade with experienced guides who know the river well. The lush environment of Chile’s Tenth Region is home to a wide variety of wildlife. Gourmet meals are prepared each day by a professional chef.
$4,900/person/week based on double occupancy and shared guide.
Fly to Esquel, Argentina, via Buenos Aires where the outfitter will meet you and drive you across the Chilean border to the lodge.
