Wyoming Mountain Goat Hunt

For hunters trying to harvest a mountain goat in the lower 48, Wyoming should be on your radar. Mountain goats are only found in extreme northwestern, Wyoming around Yellowstone Park. Although they only live in a small portion of the state their numbers here are excellent. These areas are known for producing high-quality hunts with near 100% success for the lucky tag holder.

Hunters should expect a true mountain hunting experience often times using horses to access remote country. Travelling from drainage to drainage is the most common form of finding mature billies. Tent camp or spike camp accommodations are the norm on these hunts.

One of the most enticing factors of hunting mountain goats in Wyoming is the fact the draw is 100% random every year. In other words there is no preference point system in place. Each year, every applicant has an equal chance of drawing the license. Licenses can also be purchased at auction. If you purchase a license at auction it will typically qualify as a tax deductible charity contribution.
