Outfitter # 193

Colorado Archery Elk Drop Camp

For the do-it-yourself elk hunter, this archery drop camp hunt is located in units 20 and 29. It takes place in the Roosevelt National Forest which borders Rocky Mountain National Park. These units offer excellent archery elk hunting opportunities and take very few preference points to draw (2-3 preference points). This area is remote and best accessed via horseback. You'll be packed into a drop camp for two hunters which consists of wall tents with cots/mattresses, tables, chairs, lights, cooking utensils, wood stoves, propane stoves, fire wood, drinking water, bear proof containers and a latrine. Hunters will need to bring personal gear, food and drinks. There is a 75 lb. weight restriction per person on personal gear not including food. Each camp will be checked by radio on a daily basis. If you're successful, your trophy will be packed out for you as part of the service. These units have good trophy potential with 300"+ bulls a real possibility. This is a true wilderness elk hunt, so it pays to be in good physical condition. Due to the limited availability, we recommend booking this hunt at least a year in advance. So, if you're sitting on two Colorado preference points, give our office a call.
