August – October
This spot and stalk four day hunt takes place along the Mogollon Rim of central Arizona. This region of Arizona is composed of numerous mountain ranges known for the abundance of trophy class bears. These hunts are conducted like no other bear hunt in the world in that the bears are hunted in the cactus while they feed on the fruit of the prickly pear cactus. It is not uncommon on a normal year to see in excess of 10 bears a day during this time. Their hunting techniques are similar to that of Coues deer hunting. High powered optics while spot and stalking in remote areas is the key to success. Calling is also used regularly as it has proven very itself to be a very effective technique. Trained hounds are also available if a hunter wishes to persue a bear in this manner. In the past four seasons this operation has taken seventeen bears, seven in excess of the magic 20″. Tent camp accommodations and meals are served. These permits are available over the counter and our bears are of good quality, so be sure to book early to ensure your spot this year.
