Opened in 1960, this is the “Original Fishing Lodge” in Belize. Conveniently located along the Belize River and just a few miles from the ocean flats, the lodge offers quick and easy access to some incredible flats fishing for bonefish, tarpon, permit, and even some snook. This beautiful historic mahogany lodge is situated amidst an abundant tropical setting. Balmy breezes rich with the sound of bird song drift among the private cottages creating a naturalist’s paradise. The river and flats fishing is from 23’ fiberglass pangas, which are made to handle these waters. There are typically two anglers per skiff with a knowledgeable, English-speaking local guide.
This Central America fishing lodge offers a very diverse fishing environment. The many flats, channels, mangrove-lined cays, and rivers in the area are home to an abundance of tarpon, bonefish and permit, plus other species such as snook and barracuda. The flats offer a combination of wade fishing and boat fishing with sight fishing opportunities for most species. Belize is a year round fishery, especially for the bonefish and permit. Resident tarpon can be caught year round in the rivers while the larger migratory fish begin showing up on the flats in May and are typically around through August. Relax and delight in Belizean hospitality and enjoy a delicious combination of fine Belizean-Creole cuisine. Whether you prefer to fly fish or spin fish, rest assure your guide will make sure your day on the water is an enjoyable one.
The lodge can accommodate sixteen guests in eight double occupancy rooms. Each room is basic, yet comfortable, and features two single beds, private bathroom with hot/cold running water, a/c, ceiling fan, and screened-n verandah overlooking the river. The main lodge is home to the kitchen, dining room, lounge area, and self-serve bar. Enjoy an excellent combination of the best Belizean, Creole, and American cuisine. Meals are served family style around the solid slab mahogany dining room tables. Relax and enjoy the atmosphere, sharing stores of the day on the water.

Fly to Belize City where you will be met and driven about 10 minutes to the lodge. A short boat transfer up river is required.
Easy: Somewhat easy walking when it comes to physicality. Minimal walking or hiking and terrain is very accessible. Mostly hunting from blinds or tree stands.
Moderate: Physicality is somewhat moderate to advanced. Spot and stalk method of hunting as well as some hunting from blinds. Terrain can vary from prairies to mountains at higher elevations.
Difficult: Requires an advanced degree of physical endurance. Terrain is typically more mountainous and hunting can take place at higher elevation.
Extreme: Most difficult and physically demanding hunts. Requires advanced to extreme endurance and terrain or game pursued may involve dangerous situations.
