The mid-Asian ibex are the largest of all the ibex with body weights pushing 300 pounds and horns that can exceed 50”. These big stout goats live in some of the most beautiful and rugged country to be found in central Asia, and we have two wonderful locations where they may be hunted with virtually 100% shooting opportunity if a hunter is in shape.
We have different hunting areas between 3 hours and 12 hours by car from the airport in Bishkek. Our outfitter was the first to organize hunts in this country when it was still part of the Soviet Union. This is a hunt where some spiking out may be required, and horses do much of the work for you. Very large ibex up to and over 130cm are regularly taken here. This is generally an ibex only hunt with great success on top quality billies. The hunting is generally from 10,000-13500 feet.
KAZAKHSTAN / KETMEN, DZOUNGARIA and TIAN SHAN
Our hunting areas are located 6-7 hours drive from Almaty airport. Either in the Uighur Autonomous Region of Kazakhstan ( thus Chinese border) or south-west of Kazakhstan on the border with Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan. There are areas where we can expect very large ibex (over 130 cm). However, the Ibex are less abundant and more difficult to hunt here because the area is relatively forested. This is a great area for a hunter to do a combination hunt including IBEX and / or MARAL or IBEX and / or TIAN SHAN ROE DEER. There is a chance at ibex over 50” here, but the hunting will just be a bit tougher due to forest cover and lower ibex densities. We have another area about 3 hours from Almaty with much higher ibex densities, less trees, and trophy quality should still be excellent with mid to upper 40’s as the norm. These hunts utilize horseback and 4×4 vehicles, and altitudes are less than Kyrgyzstan with most hunting occurring at 7000-10,000 feet.
$9000 5 hunting days including trophy fee for 1 ibex
