September – Archery
October – Rifle
This outfitter offers some of the finest wilderness elk hunts in western Wyoming. They are hunting a mostly resident elk herd so they do not rely on heavy snows or migration to ensure success. The areas hunted have not been affected by wolves like some of the other units in the state. You can expect to be hunting bulls that will score in the 300″ category with some bulls being harvested every year in this area exceeding 350″. The guides pride themselves on providing a very high shot opportunity and an adventure of a lifetime.
The archery hunts take place the month of September where one can experience hunting bulls in the rut. The experienced guides are very educated in finding and calling elk in close. One could expect to have many encounters with rutting bulls during the hunt. The rifle hunts will take place in mid-October when the rut is winding down. These hunts will be mostly spot and stalk with a strategy formulated to get into range once a trophy bull has been spotted. Like most wilderness style hunts those in the best physical condition that can maintain a positive attitude will enjoy the hunt and experience the best success possible.
Camps consist of comfortable and spacious wall tents with wood stoves, cots and covered floors. Top of the line mountain horses, mules and tack will be utilized to transport you to camp which is located approximately 6 hours from the trail-head. You will traverse creeks, rocky terrain and some of the most beautiful country that Wyoming has to offer en-route to your secluded camp in the high country.
This hunt requires you to draw a General Wyoming elk tag. These tags typically take 3 preference point in the regular drawing and 2 preference points in the special drawing to guarantee a tag.
