The Greys River in Western Wyoming carves its way through a beautiful high mountain valley with the Salt River Mountain Range to the west and the Wyoming Mountain Range to the east. On this hunt you will utilize a wall tent camp which is situated at roughly 7,500 ft. while hunting can take place anywhere from 6,000-9,000 ft. This area requires the use of hearty and experienced mountain horses to access the large and rugged wilderness areas. Motorized vehicles are not allowed within the areas that carry a designated wilderness title.

Hunters can expect to either ride out from camp or trailer horses to separate trailheads early each morning. Rides into the hunting areas can take as little as 30 minutes up to a couple of hours for the adventuresome hunter seeking the most remote country. Once in the hunting area large amounts of glassing, calling and hiking can be expected while in pursuit of rutting bulls. Hikes can be extremely physically demanding although this outfitter does do a great job of catering to each clients physical abilities. Elk populations within this area have been on a consistent upswing over the last few years and the area has high bull-to-cow ratios. These two factors accompanied by experience guides all equate to high success hunts.

This camp strikes an ideal balance between classic wall tent atmosphere and total comfort. Guests here enjoy heated sleeping tents on wood platforms, a cozy cook tent, a shower, and restroom facilities. Our sleeping tents include full sized beds, area rugs and updated lighting. Bedding and pillows are also provided, so there is no need to bring a sleeping bag on this hunt. Husband and wife teams will have their own private tent.

This hunt does require you to draw a Wyoming General Elk Tag. Historically clients do need to have one preference point to draw this tag. If you have further questions regarding this great elk hunting opportunity or would like assistance applying into the Wyoming elk draw please contact WTA TAGS at 1-800-755-TAGS (8247).
