The Greys River in Western Wyoming carves its way through a beautiful high mountain valley with the Salt River Mountain Range to the west and the Wyoming Mountain Range to the east. On this hunt you will utilize one of the only lodges in the Greys River which is situated at roughly 7,000 ft. while hunting can take place anywhere from 6,000-9,000 ft. This area requires the use of hearty and experienced mountain horses to access the large and rugged wilderness areas. Motorized vehicles are not allowed within the areas that carry a designated wilderness title.
Hunters can expect to either ride out from camp or trailer horses to seperate trailheads early each morning. Rides into the hunting areas can take as little as 30 minutes up to a couple of hours for the adventuresome hunter seeking the most remote country. Once in the hunting area large amounts of glassing as well as some hiking can be expected while in pursuit of bulls. Hikes can be extremely physically demanding although this outfitter does do a great job of catering to each clients physical abilities. Elk populations within this area have been on a consistent upswing over the last few years and the area has high bull-to-cow ratios. These two factors accompanied by experienced guides all equate to high success hunts.
Lodging consists of individual heated sleeping cabins and private baths. The lodge itself has a large commercial kitchen, spacious dining area and a living room for relaxing. Ammenities such as these are quite rare in such a remote location.
