Archery: Late August- Mid-September
Muzzleloader: Late October- Early November
Rifle: November-December
Few areas in the country can compare to the trophy bull elk production found in Nevada’s coveted hunt area, 111-115. One can realistically expect to target bulls in the 350-380+, multiple bulls over 400 are taken in the unit yearly. A production record such as this arguably makes this one of the best trophy elk hunts in the country.
This area varies from approximately 5,000-12,000 feet in elevation. At lower elevations you will find prairies and sagebrush that give way to pine and juniper and big conifers at higher elevations with the mountain peaks being above tree line. A physically demanding hunt that requires 5-10 miles of hiking per day is to be expected.
Hunting tactics will vary based on the season and weapon choice. Archery hunts will take place between late August and mid-September. The last ten days of the hunt will offer a great opportunity to experience bugling bulls that are receptive to calling. Muzzleloader season does take place in late October and early November with rifle hunts following in November and December, these hunts will utilize spot and stalk hunting tactics.
Lodging for this hunt will vary from a comfortable modular home to camp trailers dependent on what portion of the unit you will be hunting. Meals will be prepared in camp or a local restaurant.
