September 20-29, October 1-9, October 12-20
This wilderness elk hunt takes place in the famed Kootenay region of southeastern British Columbia by a third generation outfitter who’s family has been outfitting here since the early 1960’s. This area is a true wilderness and is as much about the experience as it is the harvest. They offer a very limited number of elk hunts to assure a quality experience, often times only taking a few hunters at time, guided 1×1. The hunting area is some 300 square miles, just north of the Montana border, in some of the most breathtaking country in North America. Bulls have to have at least six points on one side to be legal. So, at times it can frustrating when you have to pass up a big mature 5×5! Rifle hunts are conducted during the rut in September and October. Main camp consists of a log lodge and guests cabins. It is accessible by road and has wood heat, generator power and hot/cold running water. Hunting here is done from 4×4’s, some horseback and then on foot. Remote spike camp cabins are also used and can only be accessed by horseback. These are a 1-2 hour ride from main camp. Hunting here is off horses and then on foot. Spike camps consist of primitive cabins with wood heat. This is big, rough country so hunters should be in the best physical shape possible.
