This fishery has TROPHY Peacock Bass written all over it! If you are seeking a 20+ pound trophy fish, this is the right place. This beautiful river is on an exclusive indigenous reserve, and only a few lucky anglers are allowed to fish it each season.
These Peacock Bass are notorious for their explosive surface strikes and fighting abilities. Landing one requires skill, determination, and a bit of luck. Fortunately, the guides and staff members are excellent and are here to assist you. The guides take notes and study the river each season. Trophy Peacock Bass fishing requires a sensitivity to detail and the experienced Curicuriari guides take their jobs seriously. They know anglers have come from around the world to catch one of these beauties and the guides bring their best each fishing day.
Anglers are encouraged to practice their casting skills before arriving in Brazil—especially with baitcasting gear. Casting a range of lures with different weights will help you get more comfortable. One of the most commonly used lures on this river is the Highroller (also known as the Woodchopper). It’s a good idea to purchase one, remove the hooks, and practice casting in your yard or a nearby park. The more accurate your casts, the better your chance of success of landing a trophy peacock bass!

Take in the views and enjoy complimentary Wifi during the jet boat ride. Upon arrival at the lodge you will receive a brief orientation and be given time to settle in. Breathe in the fresh air, have a drink and some food, and prepare for your fishing adventure.
Days 3-8: Fish, Eat, Sleep, Repeat! Start each day with a wake up call and breakfast. After breakfast, pack a lunch to maximize your fishing time. You are welcome to start fishing as soon as the sun rises or sleep in and relax.
The Curiciriari river is a trophy fishery where the quantity of the largest species of peacock bass (Cichla, Temensis) may be lower compared to other Amazon rivers, but the quality is second to none. However, if you find yourself getting tired we recommend taking a break in the shade or targeting the butterfly peacocks (Orinocensis). Your guide knows where there are greater concentrations of butterfly peacocks. You will probably catch a few while fishing for the larger species, but you can increase your numbers by targeting them.
While on the water, the guide will take care of the fishing tackle and place you in the right locations. A cooler is kept on the boat with water, soda, and beer. Return to the lodge at least 30 minutes before dark for appetizers, drinks and bragging, followed by a delicious dinner.
Day 9: After a morning breakfast, load up in the jet boats and head back to São Gabriel da Cachoeira. Once at the port you will be transferred back to the hotel. Dinner taken independently.
Day 10: Return home. The Manaus host will accompany you to the airport and help you check in for your travel home.
