Archery – September
Rifle – October
The wide-open landscapes of Central and Northeastern Wyoming offer some of the best pronghorn antelope hunting in the West. Dominated by large, well-managed private ranches, this region supports exceptional antelope numbers and focuses on taking quality trophies that are a fine representation of the species, with the occasional giant coming from the area.
These hunts are scheduled throughout October, with the peak of the rut occurring in the early part of the month. If you’ve never seen antelope rutting behavior firsthand, it’s a thrilling sight — bucks aggressively chasing, posturing, and even charging from hundreds of yards away. As the month progresses and the rut slows, bucks begin forming large herds, gradually relaxing their dominance and tolerating one another again.
Most of the day will be spent cruising between vantage points in a 4WD vehicle, glassing large sections of terrain with binos and spotting scopes. Once a shooter buck is located, a stalk will be planned to close the distance. Shot opportunities generally fall between 250 and 400 yards, so steady marksmanship is key.
Hunters stay in cozy cabins or nearby hotels, with each cabin featuring two private bedrooms (each with a full-size bed), a shared bathroom, a compact living space, and a kitchen setup including a full-size fridge and freezer.
