Northwest Colorado is known for producing quality mule deer, and this large private ranch in Unit 22 offers hunters the opportunity to pursue mature bucks while helping meet the ranch’s long-term management objectives. These hunts target older-age-class bucks that exhibit inferior antler characteristics, helping maintain a healthy and balanced deer herd.
Hunts are conducted during the rut on a well-managed private ranch encompassing more than 12,000 acres of prime mule deer habitat. The ranch consists of large canyons, extensive oak brush, timbered ridges, and numerous vantage points that allow hunters to effectively glass for deer throughout the day. An established road network provides efficient access across the property, allowing guides and hunters to quickly maneuver from one glassing point to another in search of a suitable buck.
All hunts are conducted spot-and-stalk style, 2X1, with expected shooting distances generally ranging from 200 to 400 yards.
This hunt is conducted utilizing landowner vouchers, allowing hunters to secure a tag without participating in the state draw process. No preference points are required, making this an excellent opportunity for hunters looking to hunt quality private land without the uncertainty of drawing a tag.
Trophy Expectations: Mature management bucks will generally be 4×3, 3×3, or 2×2 bucks. The outfitter and guide reserve the right to determine which bucks fall under the appropriate management designation.
