Northwestern British Columbia is home to the mountain caribou subspecies, widely regarded as one of the largest and most impressive caribou found anywhere in North America. Known for their heavy bodies and beautifully palmated antlers, mature bulls from this region represent exceptional trophies and a truly unique northern hunting experience.

This outfitter operates across an expansive 2,000-square-mile concession that supports a healthy population of resident mountain caribou. Unlike migratory barren-ground herds, these caribou tend to inhabit the same country year-round. Hunters typically locate bulls by glassing expansive plateaus and the surrounding breaks that provide ideal vantage points.

Your adventure begins with commercial air travel to Smithers, British Columbia, followed by a scenic drive to Dease Lake. From there, a floatplane flight carries hunters deep into this remote wilderness concession.

Hunts are conducted on horseback from a rustic cabin with a seperate cook shack. Guides spend long days glassing from elevated vantage points and covering productive country in search of mature bulls. For the safety of the horses and riders, hunters must weigh no more than 250 pounds to participate in this hunt.

This is authentic wilderness hunting in spectacular country and hunters should arrive in good physical condition and prepared for long days in the saddle.

For hunters seeking a true northern adventure and the opportunity to harvest an outstanding mountain caribou, this hunt offers a rare chance to pursue one of North America’s most impressive big game animals in a vast and unspoiled wilderness.
