There is no such thing as an easy sheep hunt, but a horseback hunt in the Brooks Range is as good as it gets. We have worked with this outfitter for over a decade and our clients have been extremely pleased with the results. This outfitter has been guiding in Alaska for over 15 years and has outstanding hunt reports. The base camp is located 130 miles north of the Arctic Circle in some of the most spectacular country in the Last Frontier. Base camp consists of comfortable walled tents with woodburning stoves, a cook tent that serves excellent food and lots of it, and a shower tent. Hunts are conducted on sure-footed mountain horses to get you back into the heart of this game-rich country where you and your knowledgeable guide will hunt from a remote spike camp. This is a small, personalized operation and the outfitter only takes a few clients each season, ensuring that each hunter has the opportunity to take home an older trophy and the game is not overhunted. Transportation
Fly to Fairbanks, Alaska and overnight the next day fly to camp via charter. Charter flight $1,800, payable to outfitter.
Sample Itinerary
(Based on a 10 day Hunt)
Day 1: Fly to Fairbanks, Alaska, where you will overnight.
Day 2: Fly to camp.
Day 3: Fly to camp once you arrive a representative will meet you at the airstrip. It is about an hour ride into camp. After arriving to the base camp, you will settle in.
Days 4-13: Hunting days.
Day 14: Charter back to Fairbanks where you will overnight.
Day 15: Depart Fairbanks and continue your trip home.
Hunt Style
Physical Level:
Easy: Somewhat easy walking when it comes to physicality. Minimal walking or hiking and terrain is very accessible. Mostly hunting from blinds or tree stands.
Moderate: Physicality is somewhat moderate to advanced. Spot and stalk method of hunting as well as some hunting from blinds. Terrain can vary from prairies to mountains at higher elevations.
Difficult: Requires an advanced degree of physical endurance. Terrain is typically more mountainous and hunting can take place at higher elevation.
Extreme: Most difficult and physically demanding hunts. Requires advanced to extreme endurance and terrain or game pursued may involve dangerous situations.
