This southeastern Wyoming private ranch has earned its reputation as one of the state’s premier elk hunting destinations. The ranch is over 64,000 acres (95 square miles) in total and varies from 6,400–8,600 feet in elevation. The lower portions of the ranch feature rolling grasslands containing cottonwoods within the drainages which gradually give way to the hogbacks containing an array of pine, willow, and low brush plant varieties. This hunt can be as physically demanding as a hunter desires, but as an overall rule of thumb it is low impact. A developed road system within the ranch makes cutting distances simple and eliminates brutally long hikes.

Spot-and-stalk hunting as well as calling are almost exclusively used regardless of weapon choice to hunt the bulls that call this area home. Often hunters will find themselves sitting on a high vantage point at daybreak, glassing the vast landscape until a suitable bull is found. This outfitter and his experienced team of guides have produced excellent results for not only rifle hunters but also bow/crossbow hunters. Elk experience such minimal hunting pressure they will bugle willingly and often come in hard to calling. The archery seasons produce virtually 100%+ shot opportunities for archery hunters.

Due to the immense size of the ranch as well as limited offtake, the quality of the bulls is ever-improving. Extensive preseason scouting is done to ensure every hunter has the best chance possible to harvest a mature animal. No more than five elk hunters are allowed on the ranch at one time so it is never over pressured.

Lodging consists of a five-bedroom/four-bath rock house that has acted as a focal point in the region for over a century. The lodge has been renovated with all modern conveniences but still holds on to its deep western roots. A caretaker will be present to provide all meals and ensure your stay is one to remember.

A General Elk Tag is required for this hunt. General tags are taking 3+ points to draw in the “special” and 5+ in the “regular” category for 2024 onward.
