December
*1 hunter per hunt.
Join this second generation outfitter with nearly 20 years of guiding experience on a trophy mountain lion hunt in southwest Montana. Born and raised in the area, this top houndsman has won numerous awards for largest mountain lion harvested in the state as well as for his top hounds. It’s important to know that this outfit only offers three lion hunts per season and takes just one hunter at a time, assuring you the best chance for success. This means your hunt is totally PRIVATE and the focus is on getting you the trophy tom of a lifetime! You’ll be targeting mature toms only during the prime lion season. You’ll have access to plenty of country including some large private ranches nearly right out of the front door of your lodge. Pick ups, snow machines, and side by sides may be used to access the country. Mountain lions are most active at night so a typical hunt begins very early in the morning, well before daylight, covering lots of ground in the truck in search of a fresh tom track. Then the real fun begins as the dogs are let loose on the track. Once the lion is treed your guide will find the best way in to harvest your trophy. Keep in mind there’s always a good bit of walking involved on these hunts. You’re typically done hunting by mid day. Accommodations for the week are at a nearby all-inclusive guest ranch with private bedrooms and bath, television, wifi, cell service, etc. All meals are included and typically consist of a light breakfast with coffee in the truck, lunch at mid day in the field, and dinner back at the lodge. Keep in mind that fresh snow is a big factor when it comes to a successful lion hunt. Therefore, it pays to have a flexible schedule and be able to come “on call” or on very short notice at times.
