Desert bighorn sheep are found throughout southern, western, and portions of central Arizona. These areas all contain the vast, arid; mountain and canyon networks needed for sheep to thrive. Arizona’s Desert sheep herds continue to sustain or increase in overall numbers depending on the unit. On average, Arizona issues the second most non-resident, Desert bighorn sheep licenses of any state (second only to Nevada). This fact alone makes it a – must apply – state for anyone trying to draw this magnificent species.
A select few units in Arizona produce B&C rams regularly, but good quality rams are present throughout the state. Once in known sheep country expect to spend lots of time glassing from different vantage points in an effort to locate a mature ram. Our outfitters in each unit have extensive knowledge of where the sheep are and often times watch rams grow up for years before harvesting them with clients. Over the last 15 years of drawing tags, on behalf of our clients, our network of trusted outfitters has grown to cover every sheep unit.
Obtaining these coveted licenses can be done through applying in Arizona’s annual big game draw. These tags are issued through a bonus point system, meaning you could potentially draw the first year you apply with an increasing probability of draw success each time you apply. (If you wish to bypass the draw process a limited number of sheep licenses are auctioned off yearly, please inquire for auction assistance).
