Colorado Private Ranch Archery Elk

Outfitter #804
from
$8,500
Location:
Method:
Archery
Dates:

September

As both the outfitter and 5th generation ranch owner this family run outfitting operation takes great pride in the stewardship of their ranch and wildlife herds that call this area home. The ranch totals 16,000 private acres, which is surrounded by thousands of acres BLM land, which the outfitter is permitted to hunt. The hunting area will vary from 6,500 ft. to 9,000 ft. with landscapes dominated by aspens, tall pines, open sagebrush parks and grassy meadows. A well-developed road system is present, but hiking will be necessary.

Resident elk numbers throughout the summer and early fall typically exceed 500 total animals of which the vast majority are cows. As September approaches, bulls will trek from miles around to pursue these resident cows which creates fierce rutting behavior. Hunters can expect to use a combination of spot-and-stalk, calling and sitting on productive wallows/waterholes throughout the hunt. Early September hunts will be done almost exclusively out of stands/blinds. Historical shot opportunity has run 90%+ on archery hunts. Shot ranges will vary but 30-50 yards is quite normal. Hunters can expect to target bulls that routinely have six points per side and fall into the 270-310 inch class.

Upon concluding the days hunt you will return to the lodge to exchange stories and enjoy hearty home cooked meals. Hunters will either stay in the lodge or rustic log cabins located next to the lodge.

This hunt does NOT require a draw, tags can be purchased over the counter upon arrival or online prior to arrival.
