Wyoming Merriam Turkey Hunt
This huge 160,000 acre ranch has a healthy population of Merriam turkeys. There are several different creek’s that run through this property and plenty of pine covered hills that make for great turkey habitat. Late April and early May is the best time to do this hunt. The birds are not pressured and are responsive to calls.
If you are an experienced turkey hunter and want to do most of this on your own. Your guide will take you to the area, give you the scouting report and step back while you go to work. If you are looking to have a more fully guided experience? Your knowledgeable guide will help get you in position and run the calls.
Travel for this hunt is very easy. If you are flying? You will need to fly to Gillette, Wy. The outfitter offers free pickup and drop off. If you want to drive, the outfitter can provide exact directions. Lodging is simple but clean and comfortable. The food is good home cooked meals. Call WTA for more information.

Day 1: Travel from home to camp near Gillette, WY. If flying outfitter will pick you up at the airport. If driving outfitter will provide exact directions. Plan to arrive after lunch. You will settle in and dinner is provided.
Day 2-4: Hunt Days
Day 5: Depart for home. Plan to depart in the AM. If flying outfitter will take you to the airport.
Hunt Style
Physical Level:
Easy: Somewhat easy walking when it comes to physicality. Minimal walking or hiking and terrain is very accessible. Mostly hunting from blinds or tree stands.
Moderate: Physicality is somewhat moderate to advanced. Spot and stalk method of hunting as well as some hunting from blinds. Terrain can vary from prairies to mountains at higher elevations.
Difficult: Requires an advanced degree of physical endurance. Terrain is typically more mountainous and hunting can take place at higher elevation.
Extreme: Most difficult and physically demanding hunts. Requires advanced to extreme endurance and terrain or game pursued may involve dangerous situations.
