August 10 – September 10th
A backpack hunt for mountain goat is not for the faint of heart. However, it will likely be one of the best and most rewarding experiences you can have as a big game hunter. These animals are extremely confident in their terrain and live in places most creatures, including humans, dare to venture. We have come across an excellent opportunity for anyone looking to scratch this one off the bucket list. There are a couple of major benefits to this hunt, first and foremost it is a great value for this species. These elite mountain hunts are getting more and more expensive every year and this is an opportunity to beat those prices by thousands of dollars. Secondly, although you do have to draw a tag, the draw odds are completely reasonable. We are seeing draw odds as good as 1 in 4 which is incredible for a species of this caliber. When you combine the odds of drawing with the great price point – it’s a no brainer – get your name in the hat on this hunt!
Going into this hunt it is critical to know what you are getting into. These hunts are very physically and mentally demanding. Being in very good physical condition and having the best equipment that you can afford will help you immensely.
On these backpack hunts you and your guide will be dropped off via airplane or boat, will then hike to the upper alpine slopes and then set spike camp. Once there, a plan is put in place to get the hunter as close as possible to a trophy billy. Once a goat is harvested, your guide will call for pick-up via satellite phone. These hunting areas boast high numbers of mountain goats with a very healthy population of mature billys. This seasoned outfitter knows these animals and this terrain extremely well. This offers, piece of mind, going into a hunt of this magnitude. If you can stay focused, and make it up the mountain, harvest opportunity will run nearly 100% each and every season. Call WTA TAGS today and get applied for this world class adventure – 1-800-755-TAGS (8247).
