To qualify for a Grand Slam in the saltwater flats fishing world, an angler must successfully land a bonefish, tarpon, and permit in the same day. Statistics have proven that there is no better place in the world than the rich waters of Belize. Bonefish are abundant, and at times, can be seen by the hundreds “tailing” on one of the many nearby flats. They average 1–3 pounds, but larger fish are caught every day. Tarpon can be found year-round on the flats, and vary in size from the “babies” that run 5–10 pounds to larger tarpon exceeding the 100-pound mark. Permit can be found just about anywhere, and often in small schools. They’ll average 8–10 pounds with larger fish a definite possibility. Keep in mind that these are permit, and are considered the ultimate feat, especially on a fly rod.

Non-fishing activities include visiting the Mayan Ruins, excellent snorkeling and diving, eco-tours, or simply relaxing by the pool. The small town of San Pedro is a short stroll away and offers some nightlife and shopping.
