The Okanagan area of British Columbia is known to be home to some of the largest mountain lions in the world. Many of the cats weigh between 165 and 185 pounds, some over 200. Limiting the harvest to a few lucky hunters allows this outfitter to place many cats in the book. The hunt for tracks can be conducted using trucks, ATVs, or snowmobiles depending on the area being hunted and the snow conditions. Once a track is located, the hunter will be brought as close to the tree as possible, but it can be a physically demanding trek to get to the tree in harsh conditions. The safest and easiest route is taken to approach the harvest. These houndsmen are true professionals in the field and the dogs are treated as family. They have great respect for the cats and the hounds. Hunts will normally run from mid-November to the end of March.
