October – Febuary
Between 1969-1977 a total of 95 oryx were released on White Sands Missile Range and the surrounding areas of southern, New Mexico. This area is primarily made up of flat desert, rolling hills and intermittent canyons and is covered with tall sage and mesquite. This relocation was all in the interest of providing additional hunting opportunities within New Mexico. Oryx, not only provide excellent hunting, they also make for truly great table fare. Today, oryx around White Sands number into the thousands.
This area is perfect for traditional spot-and-stalk style hunting. Success rates are at or near 100% every year on this great hunt. You will target a mature animal that simply has at least one broken horn. Horns are routinely broke during the intense fights among bulls.
If you have drawn a once-in-a-lifetime bull tag you are eligible to apply for broken horn bull hunts. Draw odds for broken horn tags are often five-times (5x) better than traditional bull tags. With a track record of hundreds of successful oryx hunts, our WTA TAGS endorsed outfitter has the experience to provide you with the hunt-of-a-lifetime.
