Eastern Colorado has firmly established itself as one of the West’s premier destinations for trophy mule deer. This reputation is built largely on the region’s vast, privately owned farms and ranches, along with great genetics. The landscape is characterized by rolling hills of native grasses, sagebrush, and yucca, interwoven with irrigated and dry-land crop fields. This diverse habitat creates an exceptional environment for producing consistently high-quality mule deer and provides ideal conditions for successful hunts regardless of weapon choice.
Hunters can expect to spend much of their time glassing expansive country in search of mature bucks. Once a target deer is located, a well-planned stalk or setup is executed with the guidance of experienced, knowledgeable guides. Opportunities on bucks in the 160–170 class are common, and this region has a strong history of producing deer exceeding 170. Shot opportunities vary by weapon type, but hunters should be prepared for longer-range scenarios common to open, agricultural country.
This hunt does require drawing a Colorado deer tag. Historically, clients have been 100% successful in the draw with zero to one preference points. If this hunt is of interest, applying for points is strongly recommended.
