Unit 40
- Elevation: 4,500–9,500 feet

Archery and muzzleloader hunters can expect to hunt at higher elevations, while 3rd and 4th rifle hunters will target bucks that have dropped into their winter range to rut. All hunts will use spot & stalk as the primary method. A combination of pickups and UTVs will be used for access. The overall deer population is strong, and hunters can expect to see plenty of deer.

Unit 61
- Elevation: 5,000–10,000 feet
- General Information: This unit is located on the western side of the Uncompahgre Plateau, a flat-topped mountain range. The top of the plateau serves as a mild summer and early fall range for wildlife. As you descend, you’ll encounter steep terrain with oak-covered benches. Archery and muzzleloader hunters can expect to hunt at higher elevations, while 3rd season rifle hunters will target mid to lower elevations. All hunts will use spot & stalk as the primary method. A combination of pickups, UTVs, and horses will be used for access. While deer populations in the unit are lower, the area supports superior genetics and produces some very large bucks each season.
