These hunts are designed for those hunters who are looking for a high-quality, DIY-style elk hunt without the hassle of bringing your own camp and food. If you feel confident hunting elk on your own, this is a fantastic, great-value option. The elk herds in these units are strong. And because this is a limited-entry draw unit the hunter experience is typically far superior to Colorado’s often frustrating, over-the-counter system. Even more exciting, the odds of drawing a license are excellent due to the improved draw odds utilizing New Mexico’s outfitter pool. These camps include all of the hard-to-travel-with amenities that can make planning a DIY hunt difficult. Wall tents, cots, showers, food, camp cook—this unguided hunt has you covered, so you can just HUNT! All hunts will include a guide for the first two days of the hunt. After that period, camp staff will assist in pointing you in the right direction each day. Also, is there anything better than finishing a long day of hunting and knowing that a hot meal awaits? Another huge benefit of this adventure is that once you have taken an elk, the camp staff will assist you with retrieving your animal, giving you the confidence to get deep without the fear of a difficult pack-out.
