This hunt takes place in the rugged desert mountains of New Mexico’s Gila National Forest. Elevations range from 4,500–8,000 feet elevation. Much of the hunt area is accessible to 4-wheel-drive vehicles, but there are many remote areas that do require hiking to gain access, meaning, this hunt can accommodate anyone, from the extreme hunter to the client with limited physical capabilities.
This hunt requires a limeted-entry application but does have a 90% draw success rate. If drawn, this hunt offers nearly 100% shot opportunity on 85″ or better coues deer. The tag we’d be applying you for is actually good for coues deer or mule deer. So, if during the course of your hunt, you come across a good mule deer while hunting coues deer, you are free to change species.
Your day will primarily consist of glassing the hillsides for this elusive deer. Quality optics and a good tri-pod are a must. Shots will typically be 250 yards and beyond, often shooting cross canyon. The outfitter will have a long-range rifle available if you don’t have your own.
Accommodations consist of a nice comfortable lodge centrally located in the hunting area. Home-cooked meals are provided. This is a quality hunt with great drawing odds at a reasonable price. Availability is limited, call WTA TAGS today to get a spot.
