February – March
Large concentrations of both King and Common Eiders inhabit the remote broken coast of western Greenland, and it is quickly becoming the new frontier for the adventurous sea duck hunter! Hunts take place off small rock outcroppings over decoys; the lack of pressure on these ducks makes for fast action.
All hunts are conducted using an extremely seaworthy 36ft foot vessel with a fully closed cab to get a break from the conditions. This outfitter takes six hunters at a time using both the big boat and a tender boat over decoys from island blinds positioned on the outer edge of the numerous chain of islands that inhabit this coast. Liberal limits are in place to assure that each hunter will have a chance to collect some beautiful specimens and take home “The King,” the holy grail of waterfowl species!
This adventure has so much more to offer than just world-class trophies. Greenland itself is truly an excellent destination for the traveler. Best described as a “modern-day last frontier,” the people, food, and accommodations are better than most, and travel in and out of the country can be done with direct flights from Iceland and Denmark. The traditional Inuit native culture is shown with bright colors and smiles from the residents. If you’re an adventurous traveler and would like to experience this truly wonderful destination, please don’t hesitate to give WTA a call today; we’ve done it and would love to share the story with you!
