Goats & Hogs – Year-round
Axis Deer – March – August
Hunt Hawaii and extend your season with one of the most reputable family run operations in the state. This outfitter of 18+ years, caters to the traveling sportsperson. This is a great hunt whether you travel to the islands strictly for a hunting vacation or if you’re looking for a break from being a tourist. These hunts are year round and conducted on exclusive private lands on the island of Maui. All hunts are fully guided with experienced guides. There is an abundance of Wild Hogs, Feral Goats and Axis Deer on these properties producing near 100% opportunity for hunters.
Feral Goat hunting on Maui is extremely popular. These “Hawaiian goats” bed down in the high cliffs and feed in the pastures during the days. They are often found in small herds and make for an exceptional spot and stalk hunt. Shot opportunities are extremely high on trophy goats with horns that are both “traditional” style wide rams and “Ibex” style that curl back. These hunts make a great hunt for archery, rifle or muzzleloader hunters. The goats also will have various color variations making an exceptional trophy. All goat hunts can be arranged any day of the week and typically do not require more than one day of hunting under normal weather conditions.
Wild hogs are also abundant on the island. These hogs are destructive and found feeding on fruit trees such as guava, mango and avocado. Hunts are conducted in the morning and evening on large ranches by use of dogs that help track and bay the hogs. Hog hunting is only done on Saturday and Sunday usually November – March. During late spring through summer and into early fall, the hogs are smaller in size (weight) because the island usually experiences dry spells which lead to drought type conditions making food sources more difficult to find and the animals more sporadic.
One of the most sought after game animals on the island is the Axis Deer. Similar to goats and hogs they too are very high success. Axis bucks will average 30″-33” with some larger bucks harvested. These hunts are seasonal and conducted March – August on a limited basis. The outfitter’s strict management program insures trophy quality and high success rates. The preferred booking period for any hunt that includes axis deer is usually spring through summer. Unlike many other deer in the continental United States, Axis deer on the island are in the “rut” during the summer months, and the majority will begin to drop their antlers during the fall. All Axis hunts are done by spot and stalk with rifle or muzzle loader only.
