Hunts will take place from about mid-January through February.
This is an excellent opportunity to harvest a Canadian Grey Wolf, one of the most difficult animals to hunt in North America. This outfitter has a tried-and-true method that produces results. Reconnaissance and baiting start in November to ensure the packs are patterned before you arrive. Just a select few clients will come in mid-January through February. By keeping the number of hunters low, shot opportunity significantly increases. You will spend three days and two nights in the blind. If you have not harvested a wolf during this time, you have the option of coming out for a day to recharge at the local hotel, which is included in your hunt package. You will then go back into the blind for another two days of hunting. Reducing commotion, by not coming to and from the blind every day, is the key to harvesting mature wolves and not breaking their pattern.
These blinds are relatively comfortable. They are equipped with a thermostat-controlled heater. They have a bed, comfortable chair, and battery/solar power source to keep your electronic devices charged. Most of the blinds have cell service. If a particular blind does not have cell service, the outfitter will provide an In-Reach device for emergency communication.
Food consists of pre-prepared frozen meals or Mountain House meals.
All blinds are set 200 yards from the bait. Each client is placed on a fresh set, meaning no one will have previously hunted your blind. Blind baiting starts in November, months before you arrive. Scouting is done with cellular trail cameras. The outfitter takes extreme measures to ensure as little disturbance as possible before you arrive.
The first wolf is included in the hunt price. A trophy fee of $750 will be owed to the outfitter upon harvesting a second wolf. If you harvest a wolf early, you are welcome to continue to hunt a second wolf for the duration. The pack will often return to bait, even after the initial harvest. Outfitter recommended calibers for this hunt are .243 or comparable. Bullet selection is probably more important than caliber.
If you are serious about adding a wolf to your trophy room, this is the outfitter to get it done! Early booking is essential, so if you’re interested, please call our office today at 1-800-346-8747.
