Rifle (Early – Mid November)
Muzzleloader (Mid- October)
YOUTH Rifle hunt (Nov 23 – Dec 1 approx. – any three days)
This hunt takes place just outside of Ruidoso, New Mexico in the White Mountain Wilderness. You will access the beautiful countryside via horseback and your professional guide will lead the way. After roughly one hour in the saddle, you will have penetrated into mule deer country. From there, intensive glassing is the name of the game. This is not a hunt for the next world-record, but rather an incredible adventure that you will never forget. Success rates exceed 80% on nice mature mule deer scoring between 150 and 160 B&C. Larger bucks can be taken. Camp will consist of a wall tent or modern cabin, depending on which part of the unit the outfitter decides to access. Meals are included and heavily favor southwestern cuisine. Obtaining a tag, for this reasonably priced mule deer hunt, does require a drawing (mid-March application deadline). Drawing odds push 100% each year for the November rifle hunt as well as the October muzzleloader hunt. Also, there is a youth season with near 100% drawing odds that takes place in late-November. This is probably the very best hunt on the unit, so if you want to take your son or daughter on a fantastic adventure they won’t soon forget, we can help. WTA TAGS will handle the application process once the hunt is booked.
