Here is a reasonably priced opportunity to hunt the amazing mountain goat (and Sitka deer) in the high-alpine of Kodiak Island! Furthermore, you will be hard pressed to find a higher success rate on big billies, at this price point.
This backpack style hunt, in one of the most beautiful yet wild locations in North America, will require both physical and mental toughness. If you are up for the challenge and are looking for a fairly priced option to hunt mountain goat, applying for this tag would be an excellent choice (the deer tag is OTC).
This outfitter and his small team are seasoned, hardworking guides that know how to hunt the Alaskan bush for this incredible species of the high country. Successful harvest on mature billies, for those up to the challenge of a backpack style hunt in Alaska, will push the 100% mark each year. The physical and mental toughness of the client, and naturally the weather, all play a part in this very high success rate.

Day 1: Fly to Anchorage and then to Kodiak City and overnight at the Best Western
Day 2: You will be picked in the morning by the charter company and transferred to the float plane base for a quick flight to base camp. Depending on the plane (Cessna or Beaver), this round-trip charter costs will be between $1,000 – $1,700. After lunch and checking your firearm you may head out/hike to spike camp or overnight at the base camp.
Days 3–9: Hunt mountain goat/Sitka blacktail deer.
Day 10: Hike back to the base camp and then charter back to Kodiak City. You will then fly to Anchorage where you can overnight or return home on the red-eye.
Easy: Somewhat easy walking when it comes to physicality. Minimal walking or hiking and terrain is very accessible. Mostly hunting from blinds or tree stands.
Moderate: Physicality is somewhat moderate to advanced. Spot and stalk method of hunting as well as some hunting from blinds. Terrain can vary from prairies to mountains at higher elevations.
Difficult: Requires an advanced degree of physical endurance. Terrain is typically more mountainous and hunting can take place at higher elevation.
Extreme: Most difficult and physically demanding hunts. Requires advanced to extreme endurance and terrain or game pursued may involve dangerous situations.
