September, October, November, and early December
September dates will have milder weather, and the sheep up higher on the mountains. October and November dates will usually have snow that drives the sheep lower to the valley floors but temperatures will be colder. December will see the rut in full swing, but low temperatures and inclement weather can be expected.
This Kyrgyzstan born and raised outfitter has an exclusive area for true monster Marco Polo Sheep. It is located hours from the nearest settlement, due to that and the Kyrgyzstan’s government heavy penalties for poaching, the sheep are thriving and bigger than ever. Several trophies a year are taken over 55″, with an occasional 60″ sheep seen and harvested. Averages will be in the mid 50s. The outfitter will pick you up at the airport in the capital city of Bishkek. You may overnight or continue your trip to Nyran where you will stay in a first-class hotel, and allow you to adjust to the altitude. You will then trek on to the main camp and again overnight allowing more time to adjust. The following day will be followed by a mild horseback ride, and again more time to let your body acclimate. Camp has all of the necessary medical equipment to address any issues, including altitude discomfort. Your hunt will then start in high gear and you will take horses from camp every day up into the sheep/ibex country until your trophy of a lifetime is harvested. The area around the main camp harbors ibex, but they will be in the upper 30s to 42″ or so. Sheep are the main objective, and after a big ram is harvested Ibex will be next on the list and a camp change may be necessary to look for ibex above the 45″ mark. This is truly a top-end experience for top-end trophies and a hunter must be prepared for extreme mountain hunting and horseback riding. If Marco Polo and/or ibex is on your list, now is the time to go. Prices are going back up to pre-COVID rates by 2026. Call a WTA consultant today for information.
