Hunts are available year round with October- March being the most popular months.

At the base of Southwest Texas’s Chinati Mountains you will find this historic 30,000+ acre private ranch. Founded in the mid 1800’s the ranch sits atop a volcanic crater causing natural springs to seep water atop the ground and rich soils were formed. The topography will vary from vast, flat, grasslands to rolling hills that lead into the rugged desert mountains within the ranch. This ecological diversity coupled with superior range management have created a mecca for both native and non-native wildlife species.

A hunt for aoudad sheep closely resembles hunting many of the wild sheep or goat species of the world in the fact that much of the day will be spent glassing from high vantages in search of a trophy ram. Aoudad are superior in the sense that you will often see 100+ animals in a day ensuring there are very few dull moments. Once a suitable ram is located a stalk will be planned and executed. One can expect shots to range from 300-400 yards on average and trophy rams to measure 28-32 inches. Historically, the ranch has produced 100% shot opportunity.

For those that are successful in taking their primary species with time to spare can opt to pursuit one of the exotic species found roaming the landscape. These include transcaspian urial, scimitar oryx, blackbuck, springbuck, blue wildebeest, and axis deer. If harvested, the hunter is responsible for paying the trophy fee associated with the animal. A small portion of the ranch does contain game-proof fencing, but animals are free to come and go as the area is only fenced on three sides. Additional species are available upon request.

Upon the conclusion of each’s days hunt you will return to one of the lodges located on the ranch. The lodges consist of historic forts dating back 120+ years, each of which has been meticulously updated to offer all modern amenities without losing the remarkable history associated with each structure. Single & double occupancy rooms are available, all containing en-suite baths. Meals will be prepared by the in-house chef with a focus on serving authentic southwestern dishes that will deliver flavor and flair.

A host of activities are available both on and off the property for hunters and non-hunters alike. Within the ranch one can find multiple rifle range with the ability to shoot 1,000+ yards, 12 station sporting clays and trap shooting. Non-hunting guests have a wealth of opportunities available ranging from massages, yoga and historical artifact tours to simply relaxing with a great book by the pool, lake, or shaded patios. A complete list of additional activities and pricing is available upon request.
