September and October Hunt Dates
Maine’s state wildlife biologist estimates the Canadian moose population to be between 60,000 and 70,000 animals. With only roughly 3,000 tags being issued annually, mostly via lottery draw, this makes hunting moose in this great state unsurpassed. Average bull moose typically stretches the tape between 40–55″ and top-end bulls can be as large as 60 plus”…with all the rigging!
This hunt is with a first-class outfitter with 20 years of experience in the most productive units of northern Maine. The hunting style is to call the moose into range, and then field judge him to be sure he is the caliber of bull you are looking for. Calling moose sounds easy, but there is much more to it than just calling. Call placement, wind direction, scent, sight, and sound all factor into a successful setup. When done correctly, the sights and sounds of a trophy bull moose snapping branches, and grunting on his way to the call is beyond exhilarating.
Enjoy your stay on Eagle Lake at a beautiful historic hunting camp or closer to town at the main lodge. All locations have cell and wifi services available. Excellent food is served daily from each location. Some of the menu features hand cut steaks and fresh cold water Maine lobster.
This outfitter has a state inspected processing facility. A taxidermist is on site if you choose to leave your animal.
