September & October
Southeast Montana should be on every archery whitetail hunter’s radar. This outfitter controls a 30,000 and 50,000 acre ranch that lay in close proximity to one another. Within the ranches you will find 27 miles of cottonwood covered river valleys with irrigated crop fields, primarily consisting of corn, hay, and wheat. As you climb out of the valley the landscape changes to pine covered hills, ridges, and meadows. Deer densities are high, it is not unusual to spot multiple 130-150 bucks daily. This landscape in conjunction with the shear size of the ranches and overall deer densities allow the outfitter to truly manage the herd and offer hunters the finest success rates available.
Archery hunts take place during the months of September & October. The first hunt offers an excellent chance to collect a beautiful buck in velvet with a summer cape. If hard hard horned bucks are preferred the latter weeks will be suitable. Bucks will be pre-scouted utilizing trail cameras as well as boots on the ground efforts. Tree-stands and ground blinds will be the primary hunting methods utilized.
For those interested in adding antelope, draw odds for archers are quite high. One can expect to hunt from blinds over water holes or crop fields with a limited amount of spot & stalk opportunities. Adding antelope to the whitetail hunt allows you to stay in the field throughout the mid-day time period in which you would otherwise be at the lodge.
Lodging is conveniently situated at the edge of the riverbank by way of newly built cabins equipped with double occupancy rooms with shared baths. A separate building contains a large dining room and kitchen where home cooked meals will be prepared.
This hunt does require a Montana general deer tag and permit area antelope tag. If you have questions about this hunt, would like to book, or would like assistance applying into the Montana draw, please contact WTA TAGS at 1-800-755-TAGS(8247) or email us at TAGS@trophyadventures.com
