New Mexico Coues Deer

This hunt takes place in the rugged, desert mountains of southwest, New Mexico. Terrain here consists of desert flora giving way to steep country, covered in oak brush, juniper and yucca. Elevations will range from 4,500-8,000 feet above sea level. Well-developed road networks do exist in certain areas allowing hunters, of any physical ability, to be successful. If you are looking for a true physical test in rugged country, large roadless blocks of mountain range do exist that require extremely physical hikes to access. Regardless of the style of hunt you prefer, an area can be matched to your desires.

Over the last five years WTA’s trusted outfitters have proven New Mexico coues deer hunting rivals some of the best areas in Arizona. During this time span clients have had near 100% success on bucks over 95 inches with many taking bucks over the magical 100 inch mark.

Hunts are primarily conducted using spot-and-stalk methods, with the bulk of the day being spent glassing for these elusive animals. Shots will typically be 250+ yards and often involve shooting across canyons. The outfitters we utilize have long range rifles and muzzleloaders in camp available for use.

Drawing odds are currently phenomenal with hunters having near 100% success when applying into the “guided” draw for both rifle and muzzleloader hunts. For muzzleloader applicants it should be noted that scopes, sabots and pelletized powder are legal.
