This hunt takes place in the beautiful hardwood timber river bottoms of the Bad River where there is a high concentration of Merriam’s turkeys.This season starts in the second weekend of April and runs through May. This hunt allows you to take two toms per hunt, you are allowed to take the birds with the weapon of your choice. This outfitter offers some of the best wild turkey hunting in South Dakota. These hunts are semi or fully guided with your preference. This is a great way to get another leg in that grand slam with great quality Merriam’s. Lodge
Fly to Pierre or Rapid City, SD. Flying to Pierre outfitter will meet and transfer to camp. Flying to Rapid City rent a car and drive to the lodge.
Sample Itinerary
Day 1: Fly to Pierre or Rapid City, SD. If you fly into Pierre, the outfitter will pick you up and transfer you to the lodge. If you fly into Rapid City, you will need to rent a vehicle and drive to the lodge. After you arrive at camp you will settle in and prepare for your hunt.
Days 2-4: Turkey Hunt.
Day 5: On this day you will depart the lodge after breakfast and transfer back to the Pierre or Rapid City Airport for your return flight home.
Easy: Somewhat easy walking when it comes to physicality. Minimal walking or hiking and terrain is very accessible. Mostly hunting from blinds or tree stands.
Moderate: Physicality is somewhat moderate to advanced. Spot and stalk method of hunting as well as some hunting from blinds. Terrain can vary from prairies to mountains at higher elevations.
Difficult: Requires an advanced degree of physical endurance. Terrain is typically more mountainous and hunting can take place at higher elevation.
Extreme: Most difficult and physically demanding hunts. Requires advanced to extreme endurance and terrain or game pursued may involve dangerous situations.
