Archery: September

This 4th generation, 65,000-acre private ranch can only be referred to as paradise for the discerning trophy bull elk hunter. Elk populations in the area are high and overall quality is exceptional with bulls in the 320–340+ class being the norm. Enormous private ranches dominate this unit and public hunting pressure is slim to none. As both the landowner and outfitter, the family takes great pride in the stewardship of the ranch and employs superior grazing practices in conjunction with a large man-made water network that is beneficial to wildlife.
The ranch is classified as “Pine Ridge” and is largely composed of intermittent hills and rock outcroppings that contain pine and cedar trees. Remaining acres are sage-covered hills, meadows, and canyons. A developed road system, along with “mild” elk terrain, ensures an enjoyable hunt will be experienced regardless of physical abilities. Few ranches in the West offer this trophy quality in conjunction with easily navigated terrain.
The hunting style and methods utilized will vary depending on weapon choice and the timeframe the hunt is conducted. Archers can expect to utilize blinds over water holes where suitable bulls are frequenting. Crossbows can be utilized during Wyoming’s archery seasons. The blind option has proven itself successful on herd bulls and is ideal for hunters that are passionate archers but no longer able to hike the hills. Archers can expect to only hunt the afternoons. Rifle hunters can expect to spend much of the hunt glassing in search of a suitable bull. Once found, a stalk will be planned and executed.
Lodging will consist of a very comfortable five-bedroom, two-bathroom home. A full-time cook will be present to ensure quality meals are served daily, accompanied by the Western hospitality Wyoming is famous for.
Wyoming does issue tags through a predictive, preference-point-based draw system. Hunters must have 9 or more preference points to draw the appropriate tag for this hunt.
