Contact WTA for late April, May and June Dates. Roosevelt elk hunts in Sept, and October
Hunt the famed Vancouver Island for a trophy coastal black bear with one of the most recognized outfitters in the region. It is no secret that Vancouver Island is home to a healthy population of black bears that thrive in this lush coastal rainforest. For this reason, this majestical place is one of North America’s most popular black bear destinations, drawing discerning big game hunters worldwide. The island’s ecosystem, comprised of mountains, rivers, and streams in conjunction with superior genetics, is the perfect recipe for producing giant coastal black bears. This outfitters private hunting concession spans over 100 square miles and is located in the heart of some of the best bear hunting in North America. All hunts are fully guided 2×1 or 1×1 by experienced guides utilizing good equipment for a safe and enjoyable hunt.
Spring and fall black bear hunts are available on an annual basis. Spring hunts are conducted from April to mid-June. These hunts are conducted in areas abundant with the black bear’s food sources, often including old forestry roads, logging clear cuts, river mouths estuaries, and beaches. Hunting is done by glassing from 4x4s and spot and stalk. Over the past years, hunters have reported glassing up several bears daily and, under normal circumstances, extremely high shot opportunities on mater bears, some of which have stretched the tape over the 7′ mark. Fall black bear hunts are conducted from September to the end of October. Hunts are usually conducted on rivers and streams, taking advantage of the annual salmon run when the bears are highly active feeding to put on weight before their winter hibernation. These hunts are often more physically demanding and very rewarding, with high-shot opportunities on mature bears.
Roosevelt Elk are abundant and this outfitter does offer hunts under strict licensing. B&C bulls are targeted with many bulls being 320+. Ask about these specialized hunts early as they are filled 2-3 years in advance.
Accommodations are a comfortable lodge, and home-cooked meals are served daily. Hunting the “Island Bear” is one of the most rewarding and memorable hunting experiences one can experience. Give WTA a call today; reservations are often required in advance.
