Ireland is one of Europe’s most underrated wingshooting destinations, offering authentic, quality shoots over truly wild birds in a rugged and scenic landscape. Hunting takes place on the western side of Ireland, just 20 minutes from Ireland West Airport Knock, with easy access from major European cities and about a two-hour drive from Dublin. The experience centers around traditional walked-up upland hunting behind well-trained springer spaniels, with the pace tailored to each hunter’s ability. Moving through hedgerows, pasture, and natural cover, hunters can expect fast, instinctive shooting at wild pheasant and partridge as birds flush naturally ahead of the dogs. This is an engaging and active style of shooting, typically conducted in small groups of one to three hunters, with realistic daily bags ranging from 20 to 60 birds during the prime season from mid-November through the end of January.
In addition to upland hunting, the experience can be complemented with classic duck hunting from blinds set along local lakes and waterways. These hunts offer a quieter, more strategic approach, targeting a mix of wild species including Mallard, Teal, Wigeon, Pochard, and Goldeneye. Whether enjoyed as a standalone outing or combined with walked-up days, the variety adds depth to the overall sporting experience. A simple per-day rate covers all guiding, expert dog handling, game care, shotgun rental, and ammunition, allowing guests to focus entirely on the hunt. Whether paired with other pursuits or simply enjoyed on its own, this is a unique opportunity to experience the Irish countryside in its most traditional form—walking behind skilled dogs across open ground and settling into a lakeside blind as the day winds down.
